Next Thursday sees Shepton's first privately called referendum for some time. The referendum has been called by 10 Shepton residents, and by achieving more than the required majority at a public meeting, we won the right to hold a referendum for all Shepton Mallet registered electors and residents. There will be no voting cards, or polling cards issued by the Council. Neither will postal or proxy voters be able to vote.
So, it is very important that each of you who wish to have your say, ATTEND THE Mendip District Council offices on 24/11/11 between 4 - 9pm to answer the referendum question:
Should Shepton Mallet Town Council build a new civic centre/town hall/community rooms, in Shepton Mallet, by spending the Town Council's reserves, and raising loan(s) over the next 20 - 50 years?
The elector has to answer by one word only Yes or No
The campaigners who initiated the referendum want YOU to vote NO !
