A lovely pub with really welcoming landlord and staff. The food is excellent, I'm yet to have a bad experience and the menu is extensive. It seems to be busy most nights, especially if there's a rowdy skittles team playing :-) Decent beer on tap too.

ReportThe above review is spot on really. The only reason I am writing this is to highlight what leila_p said about booking. Ive been twice and the first time couldn't get in. When I did, my friend and I had a great lunch (she's a veggie too).
Its a bit out of town for me, but I could happily waste many hours in a pub like the Poachers. Recommended!

This is one you'll need to book for it you fancy eating there, but I highly recommend you do as the food is some of the best in the area, even including restaurants. The menu is full of gorgeous options, and all of them are homemade with fresh tasting ingredients. They're well presented and served hot and with a smile. There are also good veggie options which is quite unusual but very thoughtful, as it's such a bind to cater for one veggie guest in a group sometimes (no offense, it's just a reality). The service is friendly and the staff are talkative, as are the general crowd that you find propping up the bar. Lovely place, highly recommended for food, price and company.
